ABOUT OUR TEAM
Julia is a phD student developing part of her thesis in Nanochemistry Research Group at
INL - International Iberian Nanotechnology Laboratory.
She is working on the development of robust spiro-bifluorenic chiral systems with a high chiroptic capacity.
Recently, chiral systems have gain special interest, due to their application in fields such as optoelectronics or electrocatalysis,
since it has been shown that molecular chirality facilitates electronic transport.
At INL, she is testing the performance of these compounds in electrochemical tests and how much the chirality properties can improve electronic transport in the
Oxygen Evolution Reaction (OER).

Our Master's students
Filipa, Gabriela, Inês and Sofia (from left to right) are developing their Masters Thesis in the Nanochemistry Research Group at
INL - International Iberian Nanotechnology Laboratory.
Filipa is studying the ability of MOFs porous structure to be used as adsorbent to capture pesticides present in water.
Gabriela is working on the development of carbon quantum dots (CQDs) from sustainable precursors for light harvesting applications.
Inês is working on the development of nanomaterials with infrared radiation reflective properties to be applied to plastics.
Sofia is working on the development of zeolite-carbon composites for catalytic ozonation of oxalic acid.

2021 EUROPEAN RESEARCHERS' NIGHT
The European Researchers' Night 2021 took place on September 24th. It was a public event, at which researchers from all over Europe presented their work and its impact on the daily lives of citizens. The Nanochemistry Group participated in Braga - Portugal - as an exhibitor at "Biofouling and Hydrophobic Coatings" and as a speaker at the workshop "Energy from the Sun and H2 for our cities".
